They had barely ten minutes of screen time in the first film — and walked off with the entire franchise. The four commando penguins are animation's greatest scene-stealers: a flightless black-ops squad pulling off the most gloriously over-engineered jailbreak the Central Park Zoo has ever seen. This diorama freezes them mid-operation, burst up through the dug-open lawn with their improvised kit — a chunky field radio, a wooden abacus mid-calculation, and a stick of dynamite heading down one very confident beak. The plan is ridiculous. The execution is flawless. Just smile and wave, boys.

But fans don't love the penguins for the mission — they love them for the chemistry. Four perfect roles snapped into one unstoppable, deadpan, do-anything unit: the leader, the brains, the loose cannon and the little one — badass and adorable in the exact same breath. They handed us the lines we've never stopped quoting ("Kowalski, analysis," "cute and cuddly, boys," "you didn't see anything") and turned a throwaway gag into the funniest four-bird comedy act in the business. This is the moment that proves it: total teamwork, total chaos, played completely straight. This is the full four-penguin diorama — approx. 30cm / 11.81 in tall, 27.6cm / 10.86 in wide and 22.8cm / 8.98 in deep, including the base. A genuinely commanding scene with all four penguins and their gear. Want it even bigger? A larger version can be arranged — message me before ordering.

— THE CRAFT & THE FINISH —
At this size, resin printing isn't practical — so the penguins are printed on FDM and then meticulously hand-finished: sanding, filling and smoothing, using techniques I've refined to get as close to a resin-quality surface as possible. Across four figures, the props and a textured base, that's genuinely hard to do well, and it's where my time and skill go.

A NOTE ON COLOUR: the figures, props and base all print in solid matte Nardo Grey — a neutral, painter-friendly starting point that takes primer and paint beautifully, so the whole scene reads clean and ready to bring to life before you've even lifted a brush. The full-colour version shown in the photos is the sculptor's painted concept render; your kit arrives raw and unpainted in grey, ready for you to create that look with your own brushwork.

Being upfront: this is a handmade, hand-finished print, not a factory-moulded product. It won't be flawless — you may spot faint layer texture in places or a small imperfection here or there. That's the honest nature of a large-format print finished by hand, and it's part of what makes it a piece YOU complete and make your own. What you're assured of is care, dedication, and a quality you won't find from most others working at this scale.

⚠️ CARE — INDOOR DISPLAY PIECE
This is a PLA print, made for indoor display. Keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight, heat and hot cars — PLA can soften or warp with extended sun and high temperatures over time. Treat it as the indoor centrepiece it's built to be and it'll hold beautifully for years.

— BUILDING YOUR PENGUINS —
This is a hands-on kit for makers. Prime, paint and assemble the crew into a finished diorama that's truly your own — four distinct penguins, their props and the base brought to life however you choose. A little light sanding and gap-filling helps the parts seat snugly; glue them together after priming/painting and once fully dry (super glue / CA glue works well). Always prime before painting for the best result.
